This easy 5 minute Refined Sugar Free Chocolate Avocado Mousse makes for a super fudge-y and absolutely delicious healthy dessert.
Refined Sugar Free Chocolate Avocado Mousse
This dessert is seriously so easy and so delicious. You basically just heat up some chocolate then add the handful of needed ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. It has a super thick, fudge-y texture and makes for such an indulgent seeming yet completely healthy dessert. It’s a new staple around here!
To finish off the treat, top it with whatever you’d like! I topped mine with coconut whipped cream (click here for my recipe!), fresh strawberries and sometimes a fresh drizzle of natural peanut butter. No matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong!

This Chocolate Avocado Mousse is made with real ingredients and fits seamlessly into the following dietary needs when using the products/brands (or ones that are similar) listed in the recipe:
- gluten free
- grain free
- refined sugar free
- dairy free
- vegetarian
- vegan
- paleo (using compliant chocolate and coconut milk)
Note: To ensure this recipe was free from refined sugars, I used sugar free chocolate chips from Lily’s and sweetened it naturally with pure maple syrup. If you want to make it completely sugar free, you can use a sugar free syrup alternative.

Refined Sugar Free Chocolate Avocado Mousse
Equipment
- High Powered Blender or Food Processor
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe avocados
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 3-4 tbsp pure maple syrup (Can sub keto maple syrup/sugar free maple syrup to make it sugar free as needed)
- ½ cup coconut milk (I prefer canned for a thicker mousse)
- 1 cup chocolate (I use Lily’s for sugar free and Hu Kitchen for Paleo)
Instructions
- Heat chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar of choice in a microwave safe bowl in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Add peeled and chopped avocado, cocoa powder, maple syrup, coconut milk and melted chocolate into a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until smooth. You may need to stop the food processor or blender and stir a few times as the mousse will be thick.
- Once the mousse is formed, serve in bowls and top with anything you’d like! I love it with sugar free peanut butter, strawberries, coconut whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Notes
Homemade Coconut Whipped Cream
Equipment
- Hand Mixer
Ingredients
- 1 15 oz can coconut cream, chilled in the fridge overnight (use the scoopable part only!)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (monkfruit powdered sugar for sugar free & paleo)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Place jar of coconut cream in the fridge to chill overnight.
- 30 minutes before you make the whipped cream, place your glass bowl and hand mixer beaters in the freezer to chill.
- Once the bowl and beaters are cold, remove the hardened part of the can of coconut cream from the can, leaving behind the liquid, and add to the bowl. You can use the remaining coconut water for smoothies if you wish!
- Whip the coconut cream for 1 minute until thick yet smooth.
- Add the vanilla and powdered sugar, then mix until fully incorporated.
- Keep cold until ready to serve.
Cindy
This is so easy to make and delicious! You can’t tell its base is avocado! My family loved it! We froze what little we had left and it makes the best healthy ice cream! 5 stars all the way!
