Apple Bacon & Herb Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • avocado oil mayo or butter (I use my homemade mayo)
  • 2 slices of bread (I use O'Doughs for gluten free and dairy free)
  • sharp white cheddar (or dairy free cheese of choice)
  • sliced honey crisp apple
  • grilled, caramelized or raw onions
  • crispy cooked bacon slices
  • fresh thyme
  • fresh sage leaves
  • butter (I use Miyokos for dairy free)

Method
 

Filling Prep
  1. Cook the bacon in your preferred method.
  2. Grill onions gently on the stove over low heat as the bacon cooks or caramelize onions in advance.
  3. Slice apple into thin slices.
Grilled Cheese
  1. Allow butter to melt in a pan over medium heat on the stove.
  2. Cover each side of both slices of bread in a thin layer of butter or mayo.
  3. Add cheese to both pieces of bread, then layer on apple slices, bacon, grilled onions and herbs.
  4. Put the two sandwich halves together and add it to the stove.
  5. Cook each side of the grilled cheese until golden brown and the cheese is melted on the inside. Be sure to watch it so it doesn't burn!
  6. Once both sides are golden, remove the grilled cheese from the stove, cut it in half and enjoy!
