Apple Bacon & Herb Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • avocado oil mayo or butter (I use my homemade mayo)
  • 2 slices bread (I use O'Doughs for gluten free and dairy free)
  • sharp white cheddar (or dairy free cheese of choice)
  • sliced honey crisp apple
  • grilled or raw onions
  • crispy cooked bacon slices
  • fresh thyme
  • fresh sage leaves
  • butter (I use Miyokos for dairy free)

Instructions
 

Filling Prep

  • Cook the bacon in your preferred method.
  • Grill onions gently on the stove over low heat as the bacon cooks.
  • Slice apple into thin slices.

Grilled Cheese

  • Allow butter to melt in a pan over medium heat on the stove.
  • Cover each side of both slices of bread in a thin layer of butter or mayo.
  • Add cheese to both pieces of bread, then layer on apple slices, bacon, grilled onions and herbs.
  • Put the two sandwich halves together and add it to the stove.
  • Cook each side of the grilled cheese until golden brown and the cheese is melted on the inside. Be sure to watch it so it doesn't burn!
  • Once both sides are golden, remove the grilled cheese from the stove, cut it in half and enjoy!
