5 Minute Healthy Caramel Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • ½ cup coconut cream (only the solid part from a can of coconut cream or coconut milk, none of the coconut water)
  • 2 tsp water
  • 1 tsp arrowroot or tapioca starch
  • pinch salt, optional

Method
 

  1. Mix together the tapioca or arrowroot and water until fully combined, then add all ingredients in a pot on the stove over medium heat.
  2. While stirring constantly, watch for the mixture to thicken. Don’t allow to come to a rolling boil!
  3. Once thickened slightly, remove the pot from the heat and allow to cool.
  4. Store in a jar with a lid and keep in the fridge!
