I’m from the Midwest (NE Ohio, to be exact), and one of the most common phrases I hear when dining out is “can I have a side of ranch with that?” Seriously! I love my ranch, so I knew I had to make a healthier version to enjoy, which led me to making this Whole30 Homemade Ranch Dressing.
Whole30 Homemade Ranch Dressing
I put off making this for awhile because I figured there was no way to create a healthy version of ranch that would even come close to the real deal. That time I spent putting off this recipe creation was time WASTED because this Homemade Ranch Dressing turned out SO GOOD!
I feel good about eating it too since it’s made from just a handful of natural and clean ingredients, making this condiment completely Whole30 friendly. For the compliant mayo that the recipe calls for, you can use store-bought or make your own. Click the below links for my avocado oil mayo recipes:

I love to enjoy this Ranch Dressing with veggies like raw carrots, celery and broccoli and cannot get enough of it on my Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad (here!). I swear this is the salad to turn everyone into a salad fan.

Whole30 Homemade Ranch Dressing
Ingredients
- ½ cup compliant avocado oil mayo (I use my homemade recipe! I have options for vegan & paleo)
- ¼ cup compliant coconut milk (I like to use light canned to keep it smooth; omit for a dinning sauce!
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chives
- 1 tbsp cilantro
- ¼ tsp dill
- 1 tsp lime juice
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Finely chop chives, cilantro and dill, juice lime and mix all ingredients together.
- Refrigerate covered for 4-7 days! If you use dried spices, it may last longer.

This is so good! Because of my food sensitivities I substitute primal vegan mayo and whole organic milk. Once you try it you’ll never go back to store-bought ranch again!

Those are great substitutions to meet your allergies! Thank you so much for sharing, hopefully that helps others too. 🙂

This ranch is so so good. I would normally use the primal kitchen ranch, but i don’t really like the taste. I think this tastes way more like the real ranch without all the added junk. Highly recommend!

I love that brand so much, but I am not a fan of that ranch. I’m so happy to hear you love my recipe for it! 🙂 Thanks, Emily!!

I am currently breastfeeding my first-born child, and we found out that my daughter has a dairy sensitivity. I miss cheese and all the good sauces that have dairy in them! This blog and this recipe will keep me sane!! LOVE this ranch. My husband even loves it. I don’t know if I’ll ever buy store-bought ranch again, even if I start eating dairy again!
kaylaskitchandfix
Brittany, this makes me so happy to hear! I’m so so so glad that my recipes help you get your fill of the foods you love that meet your needs during this time period in your life. Thank you so much for your kind comment!

I was a little scared because I don’t typically like mayo since I moved to vegan substitutes. But OH MY, this was amazing. Please keep up the blog I’ve made 4 of your recipes so far and love everyone of them!
kaylaskitchandfix
Aw, I am so happy to hear you’re loving the recipes! Kayla’s Kitch and Fix isn’t going anywhere. 🙂

I’m another midwest gal who NEEDs her ranch. My biggest issue with going dairy-free is that I haven’t been able to enjoy a lot of sauces that I used to love. Finding your recipe was so helpful, it’s the first recipe that actually tastes like a good restaurant ranch. I’ve tried bottled sauces like primal kitchen, tessa mae’s, etc. but none of those compare to how fresh and creamy this one is.
kaylaskitchandfix
I am with you as I am also not a fan of the bottled dairy free versions… they are not the same! I’m glad you found your ranch match with this recipe! 🙂

I’ve been looking for a Whole 30 ranch dressing that is easy to make and delicious. Folks, we found it! This recipe is drinkable! I made it for our Valentine’s dinner of steak, potatoes and broccoli, and we drizzled it over everything! My teen son (not whole 30) was dipping his bread in it!! Even asked if I could make it weekly! (will be!) So happy to have found a version with “real” ingredients and the perfect mix of seasoning.
kaylaskitchandfix
Christine I am so thrilled you love this ranch just as much as I do! I love that even your son was a fan! Thank you so much for this amazing review and for sharing my recipe with your family! 🙂
Janet
So easy to make and the BEST ranch I’ve ever had. I’ll only eat this ranch. My family is just as obsessed with it as I am.

I’m so thrilled you and your family are all as obsessed with the ranch as I am! 🙂

By far my favorite ranch I’ve ever consumed. So tasteful and better than any bottle out there. I’ve already made it 3 times in the past 3 weeks. It’s a family staple.
kaylaskitchandfix
Ah this is amazing! I am so happy it has become a staple for you. 🙂
Rachel
I can’t explain how much I love this ranch dressing!! Easy and sooo delicious. So far I’ve used it to dip veggies in, as a salad dressing and to dip the crunchy nugget’s in. My new favourite 🙌
kaylaskitchandfix
I’m so glad you love this ranch as much as I do and love seeing all the ways your using it! Thanks, Rachel! 🙂

Hi this is more of a question and not a review since I haven’t made it yet but with the coconut milk does it give coconut flavor vibes or has anyone else tried it with any other plant milk and noticed a huge difference?
kaylaskitchandfix
No coconut flavor! You can also leave it out for a thicker texture or sub pickle brine to thin it out.
