Healthy Take 5 Bars

They couldn’t be easier to make and are thrown together using just a handful of good for you ingredients. And, as always, you can easily customize the ingredients in this recipe to meet your needs, both from a dietary and preference standpoint!

Of course, there is nothing wrong with eating the original candy. However, if you’re like me and can’t have the ingredients in it or are just looking for a more natural option with ingredients your body will love, it makes a great alternative!

A NOTE ON CALORIE COUNT, NUTRITIONAL INFO AND SERVING SIZES

Due to my past experiences, I do not include most of the above information within my recipes as it is unsafe for me to do so personally. While I try to share a rough estimate when it comes to the serving size, please note that it is very subjective as we all have different hunger levels both from person to person and even from meal to meal.

If any of the above information is important to you, I understand! We are all different and have various goals and needs. If you’d like, you are welcome to calculate the information needed based on the ingredients you use when making one of my recipes.

I hope you understand! This comes from a place of love and protection both for myself and others like me. If you ever have any questions, send me an Instagram message for the quickest response time! Thank you for being here!

Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients

  • 12 dates, pitted
  • ½ cup pretzel pieces
  • ½-¾ cup peanut butter
  • ⅓ cup peanut halves
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method

  1. Place a piece of parchment paper on a small baking sheet.
  2. Cut your dates in half and remove the pit from the middle (if there is one). Place each of the open dates inside part down onto the parchment paper in 4 rows of 3 to make a rectangle.
  3. Press down on all of the dates so that they are connected and smashed together.
  4. Sprinkle the pretzel pieces over dates so that the date layer is evenly covered. Ensure they pieces aren't sticking up to avoid hurting your mouth when you bite into them!
  5. Pour peanut butter over the top of the pretzels. Be sure to use runny peanut butter so that it's not a sticky mess! To achieve this, I usually use a room temperature peanut butter that only has peanuts and salt as the ingredients.
  6. Sprinkle peanut pieces over the peanut butter.
  7. In 30 second increments, melt your chocolate in the microwave, stirring in between to prevent it from burning. Typically 1 minute 30 seconds is perfect!
  8. Pour the chocolate on top and spread out carefully with a spoon.
  9. Freeze for at least 1 hour or until fully set.
  10. Cut the candy into desired size (it makes 8 large bars but I find it easier to eat if it's cut smaller) and enjoy! Be sure to keep leftovers in the freezer in an airtight container.

Notes

  • If you’d like more or less of any ingredient based on your taste preferences, feel free to adjust but keep in mind it could effect the amount of time it takes to set or how easy they are to cut.
  • If you have any dietary needs or preferences, be sure to check your ingredient labels so that they are compliant.
  • Be sure they’re fully set before cutting into them or else they could be super messy!
