I was inspired by my favorite winter drink to make it into a breakfast. Introducing my new Healthy Hot Chocolate Waffles! They’re free of gluten, grains and dairy. Plus, they’re low in sugar when made with monk fruit! Keep reading for modifications so you can make your own stack, no matter what ingredients you have on hand!
Healthy Hot Chocolate Waffles
This healthified version of a chocolatey and delicious waffle is based off of my Grain Free Waffles recipe (click here!). They’re absolutely delicious and easy to make in one single bowl. If you’re not crazy about chocolate, try those or even save them for a day when you’re craving the classics or looking to spice it up with some Chicken & Waffles!
Make it Your Own
In terms of substitutions, if you’re a vegetarian and looking to swap out the collagen in the recipe, sub in 2 tablespoons cassava flour or simply use your favorite protein powder instead. Simple!
However, the chocolate collagen I use from Futher Food is made up of four simple ingredients with no added sugar. I cannot express enough how amazing the flavor is! I add it to coffee and make my own hot chocolate with it. And now? It’s my favorite thing to add to waffles (hence this recipe coming to life). It’s an amazing woman owned business that I love to support, and you can use my discount code “KK&F” to save on your own by clicking here!
Let’s Talk Flour
When it comes to the flour in this recipe, I use Otto’s Naturals. Out of all of the cassava flours I have tried, it truly always works the best for me. It makes my chicken crispy as breading and baked goods delicious. Otto’s was nice enough to give me a discount code to share with you! You can use my code “kaylaskitchandfix” to save some money on their site, plus they have free shipping!
If you’re not worried about grains and looking to swap the cassava flour for all purpose flour, 1 cup of all purpose flour is equal to 3/4 cup of Otto’s cassava flour, as seen here!
