These Grain Free Tortilla Chips are made with just 4 simple ingredients and taste better than any restaurant chip I’ve ever had. They are done in just 15 minutes and upgrade and snack or bowl, trust me.
Grain Free Tortilla Chips
These tortilla chips have honestly ruined all other tortilla chips for me. They only require 4 ingredients, they are easy to make AND you can customize how thick they are as well as how crispy they are. You can also opt to not cut them into chips and make them into tortillas instead. I am telling you, these are the BEST! My family cannot get enough.
All you’ll need:
- Cassava flour
- Olive oil
- Water
- Salt
That’s it!

WHY CASSAVA FLOUR?
These tortilla chips are made without any grain flour or corn, as most common tortilla chips are. Instead, to keep this recipe both grain free and nut free, it uses cassava flour!
I use cassava flour often in my recipes as it makes for a great breading on chicken and is delicious in baked goods as well. Not all cassava flours are created equal, though. Some are grainy while others are super high quality. Otto’s Naturals is the only cassava flour I use, and they were nice enough to give me a discount code for you all! Grain Free Tortilla Chips
Ingredients
- ¾ cup cassava flour (I use @ottosnaturals)
- 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil, plus extra for cooking
- ⅔ cup water, warmed
- salt, to taste
Instructions
- Warm water in the microwave for 20 seconds.
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl and form one large dough ball. If your dough is too soft, add additional flour a tsp at a time.
- Pour oil into a pan on the stove over medium heat to warm up.
- While the oil heats, form 6 balls out of your dough and flatten each between two pieces of parchment paper, then cut into four equal parts.
- Place the dough pieces into the oil and cook/fry until each side is golden.
- Place the fresh chips on a towel to dry then sprinkle with additional salt if desired.

I just Found this recipe and will be making them for the first time. Are they cooked on stove top or the oven. Thanks
kaylaskitchandfix
I hope you love them! Please reference the full recipe at the bottom of the post where it states to cook them on the stove. 🙂
Michelle
How do you store them so they don’t get soggy? Thanks 🙏
kaylaskitchandfix
We never have leftovers… haha! But I would say just be sure to dry them well and keep in a brown paper bag? Maybe some towels inbetween?
Mary
Do you dip them in the oil then bake on a sheet pan or do you drop them in the oil and put the whole thing in the oven?
kaylaskitchandfix
I’m confused where you got the oven part? They don’t go in the oven and that’s why it isn’t included anywhere in the recipe!
Mandi
I believe the confusion is where you say “bake” in your instructions #5
I look forward to making these, but using avocado oil as it has a higher heat point and safer. Thank you! 😊
kaylaskitchandfix
You’re totally right, “bake” is so not the right word! Just adjusted, thank you and I can’t wait to hear what you think! And yes, I typically always use avocado oil too, my favorite!
