This “Lucky” Mary is made with juice from green tomatoes for a fun way to drink your veggies while also enjoying a delicious cocktail or mocktail. Whether you’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and are looking for a festive drink or just love Bloody Marys, this recipe is sure to be a hit!
“Lucky” Mary AKA Green Tomato Juice Bloody Mary
This fun twist on the classic Bloody Mary is a great way to introduce the drink to those that are fans of the classic cocktail as well as those that are skeptical. Why? Well, this version has all of the flavor that traditional Bloody Marys do, however, the green tomato juice is light, refreshing and and not as thick as regular tomato juice, so the texture may be less off putting to those that can’t get on board with drinking tomato juice. Plus, it’s actually such a great option to have while hosting or serving a group because they are so easy to customize to meet multiple taste preferences and dietary needs.
That’s not all. You can also make this cocktail or mocktail relatively healthy by choosing ingredients that are made simply and don’t have lots of additives like sugars or inflammatory oils. So, let’s pour up this drink that we can feel good about!
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
As mentioned, this recipe is super customizable to meet multiple dietary needs and taste preferences. If you’d like a drink sans alcohol, sub in an alcohol alternative. If you can’t find Worcestershire sauce (or would rather sub in something with simpler ingredients like me) use coconut aminos or (gluten free) soy sauce instead. If you hate horseradish, leave it out. If you looooove spice, add in more hot sauce. The choices are all up to you!
What if I Can’t Find Green Tomatoes?
No worries! Simply use regular tomato juice instead!
WHY HOMEMADE IS BETTER THAN STORE BOUGHT
There is, of course, something just so satisfying about making something from scratch, isn’t there? What makes it even more satisfying is when it is easy to do. Not only is this recipe easy, but by making it at home, you are able to fully customize each glass to meet the dietary needs and taste preferences of each person enjoying this fun cocktail/mocktail.
It also allows for you to set out all of the ingredients for an interactive “Build Your Own” Bloody Mary Bar! Guests love that type of thing because it’s fun, it allows them to make it to their taste and it gives a rewarding sense of accomplishment!
A NOTE ON CALORIE COUNT, NUTRITIONAL INFO AND SERVING SIZES
Due to my past experiences, I do not include most of the above information within my recipes as it is unsafe for me to do so personally. While I try to share a rough estimate when it comes to the serving size, please note that it is very subjective as we all have different hunger levels both from person to person and even from meal to meal.
If any of the above information is important to you, I understand! We are all different and have various goals and needs. If you’d like, you are welcome to calculate the information needed based on the ingredients you use when making one of my recipes.
I hope you understand! This comes from a place of love and protection both for myself and others like me. If you ever have any questions, send me an Instagram message for the quickest response time! Thank you for being here!
