This Healthified Crunch Wrap Supreme is inspired by Taco Bell but is made up entirely of real ingredients to fuel your body. So basically, you can have your cake and eat it too! Or fast food, in this case.
Healthified Crunch Wrap Supreme
Judge me all you want but when anyone asks me which fast food I have missed the most since I was diagnosed with celiacs disease about eight years ago, the answer is usually Taco Bell. Not to be dramatic, but the Crunch Wraps and Chicken Chalupas have haunted me.
I have seen homemade versions of their Crunch Wraps for years, but I could never have them because I was still allergic to the flour or corn tortilla or I didn’t want to load mine up with cheese and fake ingredients. But then, this year, Siete Foods came out with a grain free burrito sized tortilla and I knew the first thing I wanted to make with it. With that, I give you my Healthified Crunch Wrap Supreme recipe complete with how-to instructions!
Apparently a lot of you have never had a Crunch Wrap,
Or even tried Taco Bell at all. After taking a poll on my Instagram story (@kaylaskitchandfix), I found that 36% of my followers have not tried one. First of all, am I SHOCKED. Second of all, I’m about to save you some weird additives and ingredients by introducing you to my healthified version.
Helpful tip
The most crucial step in building your crunch wrap is to heat your burrito sized tortilla properly. If you don’t, it will fall apart or crack. For a video on how to heat it, click here.
Make it Mini
Another fun way to enjoy this Taco Bell remake is to make them mini! To do so, follow the same recipe but just make these little changes when assembling:
- Use regular sized tortillas instead of burrito sized for the outside shell
- Take one-two of the tortillas and use a drinking cup to trace a circle and cut out 4-8 small circles for the last layer that seals everything together
- Use a tortilla chip for the crunch layer instead of baking tortillas (saves you some time!)
- Watch this video for some additional assembly help:

Healthified Crunch Wrap Supreme
Ingredients
Taco Meat
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 ½ tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- ⅓ cup water
Tortillas
- 4 burrito sized tortillas (I use Siete Foods)
- 8 cassava or almond flour tortillas, separated (I use Siete Foods)
- 4 tsp avocado oil or olive oil (1 tsp for each Crunch Wrap)
Fillings
- tomatoes/salsa
- shredded lettuce
- diced white onion
- dairy free sour cream or greek yogurt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375° and heat a large skillet with a tbsp of avocado oil. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside for your crunch layer.
- Once hot, add your ground meat to the skillet. Break apart as it cooks, then mix in the seasonings and water once browned. Transfer the meat into a bowl and set aside. Clean your skillet then return to the stove, keeping warm. You’ll finish the Crunch Wrap here.
- Use scissors to cut off about an inch of the outside of the smaller tortillas. Place four of these tortillas on your baking sheet and lightly cover with extra avocado oil. Bake them for 10 minutes or until golden, creating tostadas, then set aside.
- Next, top the tostadas with sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and onion and set them aside to have them ready for your assembly. You will need to work fast so I found this helpful!
- This is the tricky part! You absolutely HAVE to heat your burrito sized tortilla, or else it will crack apart. You should also do this one at a time and work quickly or else the burrito will lose the flexibility. To heat, place your tortilla in your skillet with a tsp of avocado oil. Let heat for 10-15 seconds on each side, or until flexible, being sure to flip carefully.
- Remove the large tortilla from heat when ready and add ¼ of your meat to the center, spread evenly. Place the tostada (with toppings already assembled) on top, then cover with an uncooked tortilla on top.
- Create pleats with the large tortilla by carefully folding toward the center. Gently move the Crunch Wrap, pleat side down, into your skillet with a little extra avocado oil, if needed. Let cook for 3 minutes or until the pleats seal together, then flip for an additional three minutes.
- Repeat with the remaining 3 Crunch Wraps and enjoy!
