A super easy and healthy way to keep the sugar in your drinks low is by whipping up this Sugar Free Raspberry Simple Syrup! It takes just a few minutes and only uses three ingredients. So SIMPLE and is amazing in coffee and cocktails alike!

Sugar Free Raspberry Simple Syrup

This recipe is so easy that you’ll be wondering why you didn’t start making your own simple syrup ages ago! All you do is dissolve equal parts sugar into equal parts water on the stove and allow to cool. For flavored variations like this one, you just add in the fruit and strain it out when the syrup is done. That is literally it!

I use Lakanto Classic Monkfruit Sweetener 1:1 Sugar Replacement for this recipe (and many others) to keep it free from added sugar. I usually grab mine at Whole Foods, but you can also find it online!

BEFORE YOU MAKE…

I want to tell you one thing to be aware of. Since there are no gums or additives in this recipe, when this cools in the fridge, it will crystallize. It’s normal! Because of this, I like to make closer to the exact amount I’ll be needing so there isn’t any leftover. When I do happen to make a little extra, all I have to do to prepare it for use again is heat it up! You can do so on the stove or in the microwave.

I have read that you can add xantham gum to keep it from crystallizing, but I like to avoid added gums where possible personally, so I keep it simple for my syrup! (See what I did there?)

WHERE/HOW TO USE IT

I first made this original Sugar Free Simple Syrup (click here!) for these Sparkling Cucumber Gimlets (click here!), but there are endless ways to use this syrup! I especially love this raspberry syrup in hot lattes and iced coffee. Click here for my Sugar Free & Dairy Free Raspberry Latte!

Total Time 5 minutes mins
Servings: 0.5 cup
Course: Drinks
Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup monk fruit sweetener or sugar (I use Lakanto Monk Fruit to keep it sugar free)
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup fresh raspberries

Method

  1. Add ingredients to a sauce pan and put on the stove over medium to low heat.
  2. Smash the raspberries until a jam is created.
  3. Bring to a simmer for about 3-5 minutes while stirring, ensuring it doesn't burn.
  4. Allow syrup to cool to the touch, then strain the syrup to remove any seeds and berry pieces.

Notes

Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator between uses.
If crystallization occurs (which is normal without preservatives!), simply heat desired amount in the microwave or on the stove.

Can this syrup be stored in a cool, dry place in a sanitised jar rather than the fridge. I’ve heard this is a good way to make syrup last for months?

Since there are no preservatives and it is made with fresh fruit it needs to be stored in the fridge!

Thank you for this recipe! I’ve tried making a SF syrup by cooking down fruit juice and the results were……not good. Am going to make this with cranberries for Thanksgiving mocktails.
